"To Onero" (The dream)

We had always dreamed of the perfect life in a mild climate, where we could walk mountains in the morning, and swim in the sea later in the same day.
When we started our search in September 2003, in western Crete, we knew we wouldn�t have to look any further.

Hellenic homes was far more professional than other property companies we viewed that week.

We discovered the company were constructing houses in a very special ethnic village in the foothills of the white mountains. On arriving at "Meskla", we couldn't believe the spectacular scenery . The area is so lush and green, with olive and orange trees in the valley, and towering mountains above.

The prices of the homes were so reasonable, we actually bought two properties on the site. The second property has been a convenient way to accommodate family and friends on their frequent visits, as well as being an excellent investment.
By using the 10/90 method of payment ( 10% deposit and 90% on completion) ,
Hellenic homes made it possible for us to sell our UK house and use the capital to pay the balance of our dream home in Crete.

 We were given lots of help and support on our arrival here last year. The Hellenic homes managing director came to our aid by allowing us to stay in a restored village house owned by his family, until our new house was completed.
We were instantly made welcome in the village, despite the language barrier. Nothing prepared us for the frequent gifts of fruit, Cretan traditional food etc which were lavished upon us, even though we had read about Cretan hospitality. We were even invited to the village "name day" religious celebration, which was a feast to remember! (Thank you Yannis and Loula)

For a long time, we were passing on all this news to Richard's mother and stepfather in England. They were so impressed, that they came to view Hellenic homes properties, and bought a house near the coast! They are now living an idyllic life here in their "golden years".

Our house now has the name "ONEIPO" which means "dream".We are living our dream here in Crete, as are all our good friends and neighbours on the River Peaks development.
